David Burn introduced Steve Rutledge for the Rotary Club of Whitby Sunrise as our guest speaker at our Oct 29 Rotary meeting. David summarized the multitude of awards Steve has received and his years of devotion to water and school projects in Laos.

Steve introduced us to his project by playing a video showing the work his team does to bring potable water to remote villages in Laos.

Over the past 16 years over 4000 villages and 40,000 people have worked with the project team to build dams, pipelines and reservoirs provide local water sources rather than daily treks to retrieve water.

Steve also demonstrated the family filters that are distributed to households. His team also provides water and hygiene safety talks to the locals. Individuals can sponsor a filter unit for $125 that will have your name, picture or whatever affixed along with a Canadian flag.

Following questions, Nancy thanked Steve for his informative presentation and provided him with a Club Certificate.
