Arthur Milnes, our guest speaker on June 17, is an author and journalist working freelance for many local newspapers. He is currently working on his 16th book, as well as leading historical tours of downtown Kingston.
Arthur started his writing career in Arnprior, since moving around extensively. He worked with Brian Mulroney for 5 years and acquired personal knowledge of many of our politicians both during and after that time period. He respected Pierre Trudeau and met with him when he was just 17, by writing a letter to him and to which Trudeau responded.
Arthur also had the privilege of meeting and getting to know many U.S. Presidents over the years. He is particularly proud of his good, long-standing personal relationship with Jimmy Carter and his wife who have visited and stayed overnight with him at his home in Kingston. The Carters are well known for their strong support of human rights.
Arthur has had the privilege of attending many local Rotary lunch meetings over the years covering guest speakers. He is also the recipient of a Paul Harris Fellow award.
