Sandy Murray introduced the guest speakers Trudy Brown and Phyo Kyi from the Rotary Club of Wellington who gave a presentation on the biennial Canadian- Scottish Curling Exchange.

They explained how this event between Rotary Clubs kicked off in 1956. Teams of 18 curlers are hosted by either country. The 2024 event was held across Scotland over a three-week period last November. Trudy was the Prince Edward Country entrant and Phyo got is as an alternate when the Burlington Rotary Club’s entrant had to bow out.

Clubs sponsor across Ontario sponsor curlers at $1000 each. Our Club shares the cost with Wellington.

The Canadian Team raised over £5000 in auctions for Scottish children’s charities.

At the end of the presentation, Trudy provided President Nancy with a commemorative lanyard from the event.

Following questions, Nancy thanked Trudy and Phyo for their informative presentation and the interest our club has shown in helping with the 2026 event.
